RangeError: WebAssembly.instantiate(): Out of memory

Exact error

RangeError: WebAssembly.instantiate(): Out of memory: Cannot allocate Wasm memory for new instance

What it means

Bolt (and StackBlitz) run your project in a WebContainer inside the browser. The browser ran out of memory for WebAssembly, so the preview/runtime cannot start or crashed.

Likely causes

How to fix it

  1. Close other Bolt/StackBlitz tabs and unused browser tabs, then hard-refresh the project (Cmd/Ctrl+Shift+R).

  2. Restart the browser or device if the error persists, to release cached memory.

  3. Prefer Chrome or another Chromium browser; temporarily disable ad blockers/extensions or try Guest mode if WebContainer still fails to start.

  4. If the preview is blank for a code bug instead of OOM, copy the terminal/console error into Bolt chat — see Bolt's preview troubleshooting docs.
